Introducing Justine Blanchet

Justine Blanchet is a singer-songwriter from the Montreal area who has made the move to Nashville. Her recent single, “What I Got” examines what she took away from a previous relationship. Justine hopes that after hearing the song, people will know that “…it’s okay to lose somebody especially when they are not right for you. I wrote this song with the acceptance of the situation and very little bitterness.”

Justine started out in the entertainment industry at an early age and has written the majority of her own material. “…I play live and those gigs are lots of fun…. This upcoming year, I’ll be working on artist development as well as putting a band together to play bigger live shows.” She credited Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Lady A as some of her biggest musical influences.

“I create music to help people feel heard and understood…. I started in this industry when I was really young, so I’ve been part of it for a long time. I just knew I loved the industry because the people are so welcoming, and I’ve enjoyed collaborating time and time again.”

Although she now lives in The United States, Blanchet has kept close ties with her Canadian country roots. For many years, she has been a part of various CCMA events and returned in 2024 for the festivities in Alberta.

According to Justine, “This year, it was amazing! I loved seeing everybody again and sharing some music with the people of Edmonton.”

One of the biggest challenges Justine Blanchet has faced as a new artist is creating a brand for herself. She has since realized, “It takes time and it’s okay to change with the years. Artists really have to be content creators as well these days. Social media allows me to spread the word on my music and announce shows, so I’m grateful for that….”

She advised other young artists to “Take your time, figure out your goals, work on your skills, and be patient. It’s a long road, so make sure you love it.”
